Diamond polisher – Polishing Acrylic

Why polishing acrylic is sheets important? Because, machining i.e. sawing, milling and turning leaves behind matte surfaces. Since acrylic sheets are mainly used for visual purpose, hence there is a need to polish the visible surfaces to make them look clear. There are different methods available, however diamond polisher ensures polished edges and high quality polishing.

When using a diamond polisher, the edges on the acrylic sheets are moved over sharp, fast rotating diamonds. If done rightly by an experienced technician, diamond polishing can be easily compared with cast surfaces. The method is relatively inexpensive and can be easily performed on large batches.

Diamond polisher can be used on edges of shelves and signs which have been previously sawn to the right dimensions. This method is exclusively used for straight or sloping sides. It generally cannot be used on rounded corners. There are other polishing methods available as well which includes flame polishing, manual polishing and Laser cutting.

Acrylic fabrication – Know the Benefits

Acrylic fabrication can be moulded and shaped to virtually any contour making it a bespoke solution. The acrylic polymer is created when giant carbon molecules are combined chemically. The end result exhibits glass like characteristics which includes clarity, brilliance and transparency. While the weight is half of glass, the impact resistance is almost ten times.

Acrylic fabrication adds a lot of performance enhancing characteristics like scratch resistance, glare reduction, solar reflection and anti-fogging. Acrylic fabrication is surprisingly affordable and helps in getting your store and merchandise stand out in the crowd. The greatest advantage associated with the use of acrylic fabrication is that it is lightweight thereby easy for plastic suppliers to design and fabricate displays.

Different types of fabrication methods can be used which includes UV bonding, solvent welding and Laser cutting. Acrylic is malleable and the sheets can be moulded or fastened together into any shape. It also lends itself beautifully to every possible style or décor.

Methods of laser cutting

Depending on the type of material, there are two basic methods of laser cutting used in Australia, namely – High pressure cutting or fusion cutting and laser torch or oxidation cutting. In high pressure cutting, energy of laser beam is used to fuse the material while a high pressure gas jet is used to clean up the molten material. In oxidation laser cutting method, laser beam is used to heat the material till it reaches its ignition temperature. Gas jet is used to oxide the molten material.
